Simon Risanger

Simon Risanger is a researcher who became an entrepreneur. He loved solving complex problems in academia, but noticed that a lot of impactful research did not find its way into industry. His PhD topic was about the integration of renewable energy, an area where it’s particularly important to quickly move from research to industry application. So, he co-founded Versiro for this purpose.

Versiro uses AI to do real-time analytics of short-term electricity markets. Their model considers uncertainty and volatility in energy production and electricity prices. Versiro increases profits for flexible assets (like hydropower and batteries) and reduces costs of forecast errors for inflexible assets (like solar and wind). Several of the largest power producers in Norway use Versiro today.
