THE HISTORY OF SX
Startup Extreme was created by passionate founders in 2015, with the goal of showcasing the Norwegian startup scene to the world. Seven years on, Norway has evolved into one of Europe's fastest growing startup ecosystems.
We believe that true connections don't happen in office meeting rooms, on video calls, or at traditional events and conferences; but when people are put in situations that allow them to be real, authentic, and a little outside of their comfort zones. So what better arena to meet upcoming startup founders, eager investors, and curious corporate innovators than outside in the Alps of the Nordics.
Inspired by the OUTDOORS
Setting the stage to showcase the best from our startup ecosystem, the link to extreme sports and nature is an obvious choice. Risking your life skiing from the top of an alpine mountain might seem like insanity to many, yet in Norway it´s viewed as nobel. A mentality our Norwegian entrepreneurs bring to their startup creations.

Startup Extreme is organized by more than a hundred startup enthusiasts, where volunteers and interns make up the heartbeat.
Startup Extreme is operated by Startup Norway, a for-impact-company on a mission to build a strong, more inclusive and prospering startup ecosystem. Started by students and tech-entrepreneurs in 2010 seeking a community of likeminded entrepreneurs, Startup Norway has organized hundreds of events, workshops, training programs and projects across the nordic region since our beginning.
With Startup Extreme we seek to create opportunities for entrepreneurs from all corners of our regions, being first time founders, or senior serial entrepreneurs. We also seek to creating an arena for students and aspiring entrepreneurs to enter the fast growing startup ecosystem by taking leading roles in our team and organization.

Advisory board
The Advisory board consist of an actively engaged group of startup ecosystem supporters. Coordinated in comities seeking ways to increase the impact Startup Extreme has on the Nordic Startup Ecosystem.
The advisory board is operating virtually as a volunteer support organ, advising on topics like stage program content, startup selection, invitation, sustainability, event safety, international delegations etz.

The Board og Startup Norway consist of senior executives and entrepreneurs with a burning desire to contribute to the creation of a prospering Startup Ecosystem in our Nordic Region. The members of the board, are actively engaged in strengthening the company and its activities, and working with stakeholders and partners.
